The Govan Rope & Sail Co , rope makers, Govan, Glasgow, Scotland, was formed in 1889. The company became known as Govan Ropeworks Co Ltd and in 1918 the company was purchased by the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd , Port Glasgow, Invercyde, Scotland, and traded as a subsidiary company, producing rope, cordage and fishing line.
